Why Isn’t a Prophet Guiding Us Through the End Times - A Continuing Look

After writing my post yesterday, I found myself still deeply unsettled by one lingering question: Why isn’t there a prophet leading us through the end times? In light of everything happening in the world—the wars, the moral confusion, the global unrest—it seems like now, more than ever, we would need a true prophet to guide us clearly and authoritatively.

But the more I considered this, the more I felt the unsettling truth: there is no prophet on the earth today who is genuinely speaking for God. If there were, we would not be wandering in such confusion. We would not be left to sift through conflicting messages, false hopes, and empty claims. A true prophet—like those found in the Bible—would be unmistakable in voice, in power, and in alignment with God’s Word. And they would be calling us to repentance, preparing us for what’s to come, and confirming the signs of the times in harmony with Scripture.

As with all spiritual concerns, I took this burden to the Lord in prayer. I didn’t want to lean on my own understanding—I needed God’s guidance. And today, as I searched the Scriptures and waited on Him, I came to some important conclusions:

The Bible, especially the King James Version (KJV), gives powerful insight into this very question. Let’s explore the reasons why we might not see a single prophet leading us right now—and what that means for those of us who are watching, waiting, and warning.

1. God Already Spoke—Through the Prophets of Scripture

“We have also a more sure word of prophecy… ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place…”
—2 Peter 1:19, KJV

God has already revealed His plan through the Bible. The prophecies of Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Zechariah, and John in Revelation are not relics of the past—they are divine roadmaps. The truth has already been spoken. We are not waiting for new revelation; we are called to listen to what God has already said.

2. False Prophets Are Everywhere

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
—Matthew 24:24, KJV

In this age of deception, false prophets have taken the stage. They preach prosperity, tolerance without truth, and unity without Christ. The world is full of loud voices—many claiming to speak for God—yet leading multitudes away from the narrow path. This makes discerning a true prophet more difficult, and many hearts have grown deaf to truth.

3. God Is Raising Up Ordinary People to Speak

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh… and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy…”
—Acts 2:17, KJV

The end times may not be marked by one lone prophet on a mountaintop—but by a rising chorus of truth-tellers, filled with the Holy Spirit, warning others in love. You may be one of them. God is using humble men and women, not with titles, but with truth. This is the age of Spirit-led witnesses, not celebrity prophets.

4. Jesus Is the Final Prophet

“This is my beloved Son: hear him.”
—Luke 9:35, KJV

Jesus Christ is the Prophet we must hear in these last days. He is not just a messenger—He is the message. The Lamb has already opened the scroll (Revelation 5:5), and the time of fulfillment is here. His words in Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Revelation are not warnings for a distant future—they are instructions for today.

5. God’s Silence Can Be a Judgment

“Behold, the days come… that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread… but of hearing the words of the Lord.”
—Amos 8:11, KJV

Sometimes, when a generation refuses to listen, God stops speaking through prophets. His silence can be the loudest warning of all. Could it be that many hearts today are so hardened that they wouldn’t listen, even if a prophet stood in front of them?

You May Be the Watchman

If you feel the urgency… the weight… the fire in your bones to tell others what’s coming—then you’re already hearing the voice of the true Shepherd.
And you’re not alone.

“Son of man, I have made thee a watchman… therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.”
—Ezekiel 3:17, KJV

This is the hour for bold, Spirit-filled believers to stand up, speak out, and prepare the way of the Lord.
Don’t wait for a prophet—be the witness God is calling you to be.

This message brings me so much comfort! God has already given us all the prophetic information we need about the End Times. It’s found in the writings of the prophets in the New Testament—freely available to anyone who desires to learn. These messages come from God Himself, spoken directly to you and me.

He has shown us how to prepare and what to watch for. Through the voices of the prophets of old, He continues to send His love, guiding us with their messages and through His personal direction as we seek to understand them.
