If Sugar Gets Finished in the House, a Wife is Thinking of Having Another Man: Why Are We Controlled by Evil?

Posted on: https://www.makumbirofafarms.co.za/2025/06/28/if-sugar-gets-finished-in-the-house-a-wife-is-thinking-of-having-another-man-why-are-we-controlled-by-evil/
In our African societies, particularly in South Africa and Zimbabwe, there is a palpable struggle between good and evil that impacts our daily lives. The stark reality is that when essential resources—like sugar or meat—become scarce in a household, the dynamics within that home can shift dramatically. Wives, in the absence of stability, may seek comfort and companionship outside their marriages, while men might be tempted to resort to theft or corruption to fill the void.

Proverbs 6:6-11 offers a fundamental lesson for those facing hardship: “Go to the ant, you lazy person; observe its ways and grow wise. The ant has no commander, officer, or ruler. Even so, it gets its food in summer; gathers its provisions at harvest. How long, lazy person, will you lie down? When will you rise from your sleep?” This wisdom encourages us to embrace hard work and creative thinking during difficult times. It reminds us that there will always be down times, but we must learn endurance and perseverance.

If one truly finds themselves with nothing, it is essential to engage in any moral work available, regardless of the pay. There is no shame in cleaning cars, tending to gardens, or engaging in any other form of honest labor. These jobs have dignity. On the contrary, resorting to prostitution is not a legitimate employment choice; it constitutes moral degradation. Similarly, stealing, corruption, or robbing are not jobs—they are wrong.

For those in positions of authority, like police officers or public servants, engaging in corrupt practices is particularly egregious. It is imperative that we do not contribute to the devastation of the poor and vulnerable in our communities. Rather, let us strive to be patient and resilient during times of adversity.

We need to reflect on the decisions we’ve made and consider how they have affected us and our social structures. Many are suffering from the consequences of choices that favor short-term gains over long-term stability. We must collectively choose the path of integrity and support initiatives that foster self-sufficiency and growth.

To that end, I encourage practical support for initiatives like my farming projects, which not only aim to produce food but also create employment opportunities within our communities. By supporting these efforts, we can move towards a more prosperous future, free from the grips of evil and dependency.
